Tiny Ocean Plants 

"I take pattern and forms found in nature and abstract them to create mixed media installation pieces using man made objects which are found on coastlines and in waterways.”Camilla Brendon is an installation artist who works using largely found, foraged and donated materials. Coming from a painting background bold colour and striking forms are characteristic to her practice.Coast is an ongoing project, (est 2017), that explores oceans and waterways. Work made in the project is intended to improve ocean literacy and spark dialogue around wider ocean issues in the global community.Coast combines art, activism, science and education to produce work which is interdisciplinary. During the project Brendon has collaborated with marine biologists, plastics researchers and water maintenance groups. Projects within Coast include mixed age art/science workshops, talks, artwork being showcased at a variety of venues and events, spanning far outside the gallery space and into public spaces, science spaces, educational settings and political conferences.By creating bold and enticing work from reused and recycled man made objects Brendon captures the attention of wide audiences. The work often mimics natural, water based things which are threatened by contemporary society, like mussels clinging to rugged rocks or phytoplankton in the wide, cold atlantic ocean.

Join artist <A HREF="https://www.camillabrendon.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Camilla Brendon</A> and marine biologist <A HREF="https://twitter.com/brittaalexand?lang=en" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Britt Alexander</A> for an interdisciplinary art-science workshop! You will get to design tiny ocean plant logos and learn how to make natural non-chemical household cleaner that doesn’t harm ocean life. You can also take a selfie with a giant phytoplankton and ask questions about why they are so important for climate change.
This workshop is part of ‘<A HREF="http://www.sailbritain.org/2019-exhibition/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">A Fragile Ocean</A>’ - an exhibition and symposium showcasing interdisciplinary work by artists, environmentalists, and scientists during <A HREF="http://www.sailbritain.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sail Britain</A> 2019 expeditions. Camilla and Britt will talk during the evening symposium about their collaboration focusing on spreading ocean literacy through art. 
Entrance to the exhibition is free. Tickets to the workshop are £5 for and adults, £3 for children (under 16) and concessions, and £12 for a family (two adults and up to two children). The workshops aren’t funded and all proceeds go towards their running and materials.  Workshops will start hourly from 12:00 - 17:00.
