Timeless Foundations: Razor Edition

Join McKenna Howsare (@mckennahowsare) for a look-and-learn class designed to build a stronger foundation and more confidence with razor cutting behind the chair.

Throughout the day, McKenna will break down the fundamentals of working with a straight razor, including anatomy of the tool, safety and dexterity, hair texture and density, precision versus texture, weight removal, balance, detailing and refinement.

The class will feature two live model demonstrations, each showing a different approach to razor cutting.

The first will focus on a modern razor bob, using precision cutting techniques to create clean lines and shape while still incorporating softness, texture and movement.

The second will focus on McKenna’s go to long layered razor haircut, demonstrating how to create seamless layers, remove weight and maintain shape on longer lengths. This technique is also a great option for clients wearing extensions.

Whether you’re new to razor cutting or already use a razor and want to refine your technique, this class is designed to help you better understand when, why and how to use the tool so you can take what you learn directly back behind the chair.
