TIER 1: Introduction to Restorative Justice and Circle Practice

INCLUDES: Massachusetts PDP’s (12 hours) **Please note that participants need to attend both days to receive a certificate with the PDPs**
DESCRIPTION: This two-day experiential training prepares individuals to design and facilitate restorative circles. Participants will directly experience being in circle; understand the elements, philosophy, and rituals of circle; and practice both planning and facilitation of circles including establishing norms and expectations. We will learn how to engage in a communitarian process that will encourage investment in schools or workplace settings. This training will focus on using circles regularly to build and maintain a culture and community where everyone feels they are heard and belong. This training will introduce the fundamental principles of restorative justice and prepare schools, agencies, and communities to use circles within their own context.
This training will be facilitated in a virtual-circle Zoom meeting format. Participants will receive a Zoom meeting link and training materials a few days prior to the training.
