Bicyclists Against Invasive Vines - November Edition
A ride/trail clean up of invasive plants! In partnership with Chesapeake Climate Action Network.
This November we will ride to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens for a scenic fall ecobased ride. For the first hour we will stop along the trails to identify native and invasive plants then we will ride over to Anacostia River Trail west bank to clear some trees of invasive vines!
This bike ride is geared towards educating trail users about invasive vines and how removing them can help to make navigating the trails a much safer experience. This event will double as a cleanup and invasive plant removal event with Chesapeake Climate Action Network as our main partner. This event will help to bring more awareness about the wet and woodlands that houses our off road multi use trails.
This event will be free in an attempt to attract as many participants as possible and to reduce any cost obstacles that may deter participants from attending this event. We will be partnering with community organizations to promote this event within the community as a means to not only explore the trails but as an opportunity to be more involved and informed about our community green spaces.
Do you want to join but do not have a bike? If so reach out to ranger@waba.org for a free capital bikeshare and helmet so you can ride with us!
