Question 1

What to Expect

Accepted Answer

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so expect to walk up to a quarter of a mile on semi-rough surfaces, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to natural weather (rain, heat, wind) elements.

Question 2

What to Wear

Accepted Answer

We will be walking in animal pastures, so wear closed-toe shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Boots are preferable, but any closed-toe shoe will do. As you will be interacting with the animals, we recommend washable materials and no dangling (scarves or long necklaces) items.

Question 3

What to Bring

Accepted Answer

We encourage you to bring a filled water bottle during the summer months as it gets hot! We have limited shade and coverings. We sometimes have gnats in the summer months, so a brimmed hat, sunglasses, or umbrella may be helpful. Sunscreen is also suggested. We encourage you to bring your camera.

Question 4

What Not to Bring

Accepted Answer

Please do not bring any food or yummy-smelling items on your body or in your bag on the tour as our animals love to eat and are on special diets.

As much as we love all animals, please do not bring your dog or other pet to Rosie’s as it will cause disruption to our resident animals.

Question 5

Picnicking After Your Tour

Accepted Answer

After your tour, you are welcome to continue your visit, at our picnic table. Out of respect for our animals, we do not allow any food with animal products to be consumed at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary. Please ensure that all edible items are plant-based.

Question 6

Meet Your Tour Guide

Accepted Answer

The Sanctuary is located at 10717 Tulip Lane, Potomac, MD 20854. When you arrive, park in the spaces provided and walk towards the gift shop, where you will see your tour guide. Please do not open the gate to the pasture without a tour guide present.

Question 7

Visiting with Children

Accepted Answer

An adult must accompany all children under 15 unless arrangements are made in advance. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

Question 8

Visiting with Toddlers and Infants

Accepted Answer

Our community tours are open to all ages, but private tours are strongly recommended for families with young children to enable us to adjust the pace and content. You may be asked to carry your child at certain points in the tour. Also, be aware that the rough ground is not suited to carriages.

Question 9

Wheelchair Accessibility

Accepted Answer

We welcome everyone, but unfortunately, Rosie’s doesn’t have paved paths throughout the property at this time. We would be happy to arrange a customized tour for those using wheelchairs or other mobility devices. Please contact us to arrange your visit.

Question 10

Tour Fees

Accepted Answer

There is an $22 per person fee for the community tours, and only registered visitors are allowed on tours. There is no fee for carried infants. Tours fees are non-refundable.

If the suggested fee is not in your budget, please contact us to arrange a reduced rate.

Question 11

Severe Weather

Accepted Answer

In the case of severe weather, registrants will be provided a code to allow them to register at no added cost for a future tour.

Question 12

Parking and Photos

Accepted Answer

Please be respectful of our neighbors and drive within the speed limit and only take photos on our property. We ask that you first try to park in the Rosie’s parking lot. If there is not room there, please park under the trees by the  side of the driveway.
