An Evening with Susan Abulhawa | A Busboys and Poets Books Presentation
Join us at Busboys and Poets for an evening with Palestinian-American novelist, poet, essayist, and activist Susan Abulhawa, whose powerful body of work explores the enduring Palestinian experience through stories of displacement, memory, identity, love, resistance, and the struggle for liberation.
From the internationally acclaimed Mornings in Jenin and The Blue Between Sky and Water to the award-winning Against the Loveless World, Abulhawa brings Palestinian lives and histories into vivid focus, centering the humanity of a people too often reduced to headlines. Through her evocative prose and unflinching storytelling, she explores the lasting consequences of exile and occupation, the resilience of Palestinian women, and the ties to family, homeland, and collective memory that endure across generations.
A novelist, poet, and human rights activist, Susan Abulhawa is also the founder of Playgrounds for Palestine, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating joyful, safe play spaces for Palestinian children. Her work bridges literature and activism, reminding us of the power of storytelling to preserve history, challenge injustice, and imagine a more just future.
Join us for a timely and meaningful conversation about her literary journey, the relationship between art and activism, and the role of writers in bearing witness, telling difficult truths, and giving voice to experiences that must not be forgotten
This event is free and open to all. Copies of Susan Abulhawa’s books will be available for purchase before, during and after the event. The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
