Distant Relatives Monthly Inventory Day | Volunteer & Donate

Join the Distant Relatives Project for our monthly Inventory Day—a hands-on volunteer opportunity to help prepare resources for underserved communities locally and internationally.

Every second Saturday of the month, volunteers come together to sort, organize, and pack donations for our Empowering Our Relatives (EOR) program, which provides essential resources and services to individuals experiencing homelessness in the Washington, D.C. area. We also prepare supplies for shipment to support our international projects in education, healthcare, and community development.

What You’ll Help With

• Sorting and organizing clothing donations.
• Packing toiletries and first aid kits for monthly EOR outreach.
• Taking inventory of supplies and identifying needs.
• Organizing and packing resources for shipment to our international projects.

Your time helps ensure that donated resources are ready to reach the people and communities who need them.

Bring Donations

Volunteers are welcome to drop off:

• New and gently used clothing that is clean and ready to wear.
• New, unopened travel-size toiletries.
• New, unopened travel-size first aid supplies.

Donations are appreciated but are not required to volunteer.
