NAMI San Francisco Rewiring Support: AI’s Role in Youth Mental Health
Explore how AI is changing the ways young people seek information, connection, and mental health support.
NAMI San Francisco Presents the Fifth Annual Youth Mental Health Symposium
Artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life for young people—from chatbots and social media to tools that can offer information, connection, and support. But what does this mean for youth mental health?
Join NAMI San Francisco for a virtual conversation exploring the evolving role of AI in supporting young people's mental health. We’ll bring together mental health professionals, technology experts, and youth-focused advocates to explore both the possibilities and the concerns surrounding these rapidly changing tools.
Together, we’ll discuss:
- How young people are already using AI in their everyday lives
- Where AI may be able to expand access to information, connection, and mental health support
- What parents and caregivers should know about the limitations of AI-powered mental health tools
- Questions of safety, privacy, and effectiveness
- Equity and access: Who benefits from these technologies, and who might be left behind?
- How parents, caregivers, educators, and other trusted adults can help young people navigate AI thoughtfully and safely
- What boundaries and safeguards are needed as technology continues to evolve
This conversation is designed for parents, caregivers, educators, youth-serving professionals, and anyone interested in the intersection of technology and youth mental health.
There are no easy answers—and AI is changing quickly. Our goal is to create an informed, thoughtful conversation that helps families and communities better understand both the opportunities and the challenges ahead.
