Art-Smart for Kids: Cezanne & Morisot - Impressionist Oil Pastel Still Life

Learn about two famous artists, then use oil pastels to create your own impressionist still life of pumpkins or flowers.

Art-Smart is designed with a short lesson about a famous artist, and then a related art project. Great for ages 8-12, come explore your creativity while channeling the impressionist styles of 2 famous artists: Paul Cezanne & Berthe Morisot. At this event, you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks to enjoy during the guided painting session. Professional artist, Rebecca Hayes of The Purple Hayes Gallery, will help you learn to use oil pastels to draw & blend to create your own unique still-life autumn artwork. We will be using oil pastels, so please dress accordingly as these materials may stain clothing. We will be discussing impressionism and reviewing still-life artwork from both artists as inspiration. All participants will take home a mini pumpkin gourd also. Art supplies and 2 hours of instruction will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Town of Clifton and The Art Guild of Clifton. The paint event will be held in the Clifton Town Hall (12641 Chapel Road, Clifton, VA). Seats are limited to 20 attendees, so please purchase your tickets ASAP!
