Invasive Vegetation Cleanup near Dyke Marsh (meet at Tulane Drive)

The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be improving the trail near Dyke Marsh.

Volunteers may perform some of the following work:

• Cutting vegetation growing into the trail
• Hauling away vegetation and fallen tree branches
• Picking up trash

What to Bring:

• Water
• Long sleeves and long pants

Parking Information:

There is a small parking lot near the meeting location, but we expect it to fill up quickly. Please consider these alternatives:

Neighborhood parking: Street parking is available in the neighborhood across the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Please note that reaching the meeting spot will require crossing the parkway on foot. Use extreme caution when crossing and only cross where it is safe and permitted.

Belle Haven Park: Park at Belle Haven Park and enjoy an approximately 1-mile (20-minute) walk along the trail to our meeting location.

Group Volunteering:

We welcome groups to come volunteer at our events. If you plan on having more than 10 people come on a particular weekend, just let us know via email (hello@mountvernontrail.org) no less than one week prior to the day of the event. It is critical that you reach out and ensure everyone volunteering with your group registers through this EventBrite link so we can better plan work scope, prepare supplies, and promote your group’s attendance on social media.
