You’re invited to an evening of Mahjong & Merlot with Old Dominion Mahjong in the private room at Aroma II Tasting Room.
With its warm atmosphere and Portuguese-inspired charm, this intimate wine bar in downtown Haymarket offers a beautiful setting to gather, learn, and enjoy an evening with friends.
Our beginner-friendly Mahjong 101 lesson introduces the fundamentals of American mahjong through thoughtful, step-by-step instruction and hands-on practice. Whether you’re brand new or would like a refresher, you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and build confidence at the table.
You’ll learn about the tiles and suits, how to read the National Mah Jongg League card, the Charleston, and the flow of the game. All tiles, cards, and supplies are provided for use during the lesson.
The tasting room opens at 4:00 PM, so feel free to arrive early for a glass of wine and something to eat before settling in. Wine and light bites are available for purchase separately from Aroma II.
Check-in begins at 6:00 PM, and the lesson begins promptly at 6:30 PM.
Come solo or bring a friend—no experience or equipment is needed. Space is limited to keep the lesson personal and welcoming.
