Mental and Physical Resiliency: The Bridge Between Service and Growth in Business
5:00–7:00 PM
All professional athletes know that the clock is always ticking. Despite their incredible talent and unrivaled skills, many retire before they turn 40.
When this happens, the question arises - what are the best careers for former athletes?
Some might expect former athletes to stay in the sports world and become a coach or a commentator. However, many athletes enjoy the excitement of trying something completely different.
They move from their impressive sports careers and go on to become entrepreneur athletes. They do all sorts of things, like starting companies to make sweets, acting in movies, or even creating tech startups.
They prove that the grit and determination that made them sports stars can also make them successful in the business world.
Household names like Serena Williams, David Beckham, Maria Sharapova, or Michael Jordan all have different meaning than the sports with which they were once associated; They are now celebrated because of their businesses and investments.
While this conversation transcends socio-economic barriers for many reasons, it consistently excludes an entire group of professional athletes: Veterans.
Grit generally refers to firmness of mind, unyielding courage, and the passion and perseverance required to achieve long-term, meaningful goals. It is the ability to sustain effort and maintain interest despite facing adversity, setbacks, and failures.
Key aspects of grit include:
-Perseverance: Working hard and finishing what you start, even when challenges arise.
-Passion: Maintaining a deep, unwavering commitment and interest over time.
-Resilience: The ability to recover from hardships or obstacles while continuing to pursue your goals.
