Overview

Come to play and experiment freely, and leave with pages started and ideas you can continue exploring long after the class ends.

Come to play and experiment freely, and leave with pages started and ideas you can continue exploring long after the class ends. Junk Journaling blends the art of collage with the practice of journaling, offering a playful, low-pressure way to explore creativity without worrying about perfection. The emphasis is on curiosity, intuition, experimentation, and discovering your own expressive style.

In this workshop, you’ll learn practical techniques for collage, layering, and composition, and receive guidance on using found paper, packaging, tags, embellishments, and everyday “junk” to create layered, expressive journal pages that reflect your personal perspective and storytelling style.

Please bring your own journal. If you don’t have one yet, high-quality paper will be provided so you can experiment and create during class. All other supplies will be included, such as paper, ephemera, stickers, tape, glue, and basic tools. You’re also welcome to bring old photographs, mementos, or personal collage materials you enjoy using, especially items that hold meaning for you.

This beginner-friendly class is open to teenagers and adults of all skill levels.

Instructor: Azita R. Houshiar. Class size: 5-12 participants. Register by May 6.
