About the Speaker:
Professor Refet S. Gürkaynak is a Professor of Economics at Bilkent University. He is also affiliated with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), the CESifo, and the Center for Financial Studies (CFS). A graduate of Bilkent (BA) and Princeton (PhD), he previously served as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board and has held visiting positions, including at MIT.His research focuses on monetary economics, financial markets, and international economics, particularly on using asset prices to inform monetary policy. His work has been published in top economics and finance journals, and he has received several prestigious awards and grants from organizations such as the European Central Bank (ECB), the Central Bank of Turkey, and the European Research Council (ERC).


About the Tun Ismail Ali Center of Excellence (TIA CoE):
TIA CoE is a newly endowed research center by Bank Negara Malaysia focused on central banking themes, connecting academics through research programs and seminars in monetary and financial economics. We are now accepting applications for research grants for academic researchers.
