THU PM - Smalls and Talls: Making Mixed Media Minis with Jamie Burwell

Ignite your creativity and expand your artistic horizons with mixed media minis that are full of color, pattern, mark making, and pizzazz!

Experiment with new materials and develop your color and composition skills in an easy and approachable process.

Throughout this course, you'll discover the versatility of mixed media techniques. From layering vibrant acrylic paints to exploring textures and incorporating other creative materials, you'll learn to push the boundaries of traditional art forms and create truly unique works of art.

In this class, students will learn how to:

• create texture, layers and interest
• strengthen your eye for composition
• make your own painted papers
• simple and inexpensive methods
• make marks with handmade stamps
• explore all things gold: paint, gold leaf, metallic foil and metals
• fine tune your art with details

Students will walk away with lots of painted sketches on paper plus 1-2 miniature paintings (both small and tall) that can hang on the wall or be admired atop a desk, counter, or bookshelf.

Supplies:

• Various acrylic fluid paints in your favorite colors plus black and white (Liquitex Basics, Amsterdam, Golden)
• Acrylic inks in a couple colors
• (2) 6x12 inch wood panels
• Canson watercolor paper pad 140lb cold press 9 X 12
• Clear Gesso (recommend brand: Mont Marte)
• Matte Gel medium (recommend brand: The Crafters Workshop)
• Various small/medium acrylic brushes
• Color shaper (available for purchase at Art on 30th)
• Palette knife
• quality paper towels or cotton rags​
