A life drawing session held in and amongst the installation in a series of 30 minute drawing sessions.

F.A.F warmly invites you to enjoy an evening of life drawing held in and amongst their installation As a Child with a Matchstick Castle. The installation will be brought to life with the addition of domestic objects, lighting and figures.There will be an hour of short interval poses with the artists posing simultaneously but not together, working to different timers. Stepping in and out with each other to fulfil alternatively the role of teacher and model. This will create a fast pace drawing experience with an air of the theatrical whilst allowing each member of F.A.F to pass on their distinct guidance throughout the class.The final thirty minute session will involve all three F.A.F members as part of the pose, providing the participant with handmade documentation of As a Child with a Matchstick Castle. With permission from the participants F.A.F would like to scan the drawings at the end of the event as part of their myth building exercise.Participants will be provided with drawing boards, bulldog clips, paper and basic drawing materials. However, participants are more than welcome to bring their own specialist materials. The event will run for two hours with a break every thirty minutes to top up your cocktails and find a new position to draw from. T﻿ickets: £3/£2 concession

Staffordshire St presents As a Child with a Matchstick Castle a large-scale installation by F.A.F that explores how layers of history and myth are interwoven. The largest Roman mosaic to be found in fifty years was unearthed directly beneath the site of F.A.F’s temporary work Constant’s New Garden and living space The Caravan Complex.

Organically formed, F.A.F emerged out of a shared indifference to the financial and physical restraints placed on the creation of large scale sculptures in London. In a disused industrial site, which had been fly-tipped with construction debris, this shared sentiment first manifested itself with the creation of Stephen Bhatti’s Diving Tower.Using the physical limitations of sites, as well as the materials contained within, F.A.F creates temporary, fantastical structures. They introduce absurd fictional sub-plots into the periphery of the city. The works exist in the realm of myth due to the in-accessibility of these locations; sightings are fleeting with glimpses being caught from places like the top deck of a bus or through the fence of a station platform. Between 2019-21 F.A.F developed an alternative living situation, occupying a car park in London Bridge. This saw a transition for F.A.F with their construction style being applied to functional spaces. Both this and their earlier work focuses on the repurposing of redundant materials and space, reimagining the normality of the domestic within cities. Alongside their personal practices, F.A.F maintain a co-operative working method that weaves individual research interests with a shared trust and desire to realise ambitious sculptural installations.F﻿.A.F collective members: Henry Burns, Ruairi Fallon, Ali Glover

Accessibility: There is step-free access to the gallery via the door to the left hand side of the main entrance. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet. The event will be taking place in the exhibition space, which is a large open room with bright lighting and some seating available.

The venue facilitates arts and cultural events and provides affordable studios for artists, makers and designers. ​The venue was recently established as an art gallery, before then it was for many years a community centre and originally it was built as a Methodist Hall. Staffordshire St will build on the established record of these histories, opening up again to the neighbourhood and developing a welcoming interdisciplinary arts space.
