About this event

  • 2 hours

Join our Silk Stream tour through three local parks: Meads, Watling, and Silkstream, to explore the local micro-diversity, while explaining how the parks are being reimagined through professional work to:

- Restore the ecology of the Silk Stream through rewilding and re-establishing a more natural flow

- Utilise this natural resource to establish a viable, long-term floodplain to protect local residents

The three parks demonstrate three stages of restoration work: with the Meads area as yet untouched, Watling Park under development (Action for Silkstream), and Silkstream Park completed.

This date falls within London Rivers Week and two Thames21 (an organisation leading environmental change across the capital) local experts will be taking the walk:

- Ecology: Sam Bentley-Toon, EMPOWER Rivers Programme Manager

- Flood mitigation: Helen Cardy, Action for Silk Stream Engagement Officer

There will also be an opportunity for participants to engage with key community groups over refreshments.
