Clazzical Notes programs enrich the lives of people from diverse communities as well as access to reasonably priced (and for many low-income audiences or free) concerts. Clazzical Notes events support the concept that developing artistic literacy allows people of all ages and backgrounds to appreciate and learn from people from different backgrounds and cultural experiences. This program seeks to celebrate the humanity within us all in engaging, educational, and experiential experiences

Luis Villegas is a Mexican American guitarist best known for his debut CD Cafe Olé, which mixed new-age music, flamenco, and jazz and garnered a spot on the Grammy ballot for Best New Age Album of the Year in 1999. He is known for using the technique of playing fast, intricate lines by using the fingernail of his right index finger in place of a guitar pick. He also had a small role, as a member of a band, in the film Collateral starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. Currently, he is a member of the group "Heavy Mellow" along with founder Benjamin Woods and percussionist Mike Bennett.

Yihan Chen is an internationally renowned pipa virtuoso and educator. Yihan has performed at leading venues in Asia, North America and Europe, including the Lincoln Center Festival, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, Spoleto Festival USA, the World Stage Series at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Festival de Création Musicale (Radio France), La Cité de la Musique, Le Festival Avignon, Le Festival Musique en Scène, Encontros Acarte Portugal, and Winnipeg Symphony’s New Music Festival. She was the resident pipa soloist with Huaxia Chamber Ensemble in Beijing and Music From China in New York City. She has collaborated with such award-winning composers as Chen Yi, Zhou Long, Chen Qigang and Bright Sheng. She has also recorded with PRISM Quartet, Chicago's Civitas Ensemble, Testament's Alex Skolnick, and Eric Moe. She was a prize winner of international accolades such as 1995 Freedom International Chinese Instrument Competition and the 1989 Art Cup. She graduated from China Conservatory of Music, Beijing in 1995.

Haowei Cheng a guzheng soloist received the B.S. degree of guzheng performance in Nanjing Arts University in 2015 and the M.S. degree of Music Education in Auburn University in 2020. She worked for the International Cultural Center of Auburn University as a campus ambassador. She actively organized and participated in 2019 Chinese New Year Gala and traditional Chinese culture publicity lectures. She is currently a guzheng soloist of Zhonghua Chinese Orchestra-USA.

Qin Xiang, a well-known erhu virtuoso, was born in the famous Xiang family of music inChina. She won the gold prize in the first Cuckoo Cup Competition. She also won the silver prize in the National Children’s Folk Music Competition.Since she immigrated to the USA, Ms. Xiang has performed at leading venues such as KodakTheater, Hollywood Bowl, the San Gabriel Theater, Universal Studio, Disneyland, Las Vegas,etc. She has collaborated with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Balluff Symphony Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. She was invited by the famous pop singer Jay Chou to participate in his World Tour as an erhu soloist and collaborated with A Thousand Miles Away. Ms. Xiang is currently the director of Zhonghua Chinese Orchestra.

FLOWER SONGS MUSIC is one of Christopher Garcia's working ensembles whichhe continues to cultivate and nurture in his extraordinary career as a multi-instrumentalist,composer and educator with performances in 28 countries on 5 continents.He is joined by his daughter, Alegria, and his wife Yolanda E. Delgado Garcia.Together, they present a unique musical experience that showcases the indigenousinstruments, resonance, poetry, and languages of Mesoamerica.

Mijan‌ ‌burst‌ ‌onto‌ ‌the‌ ‌scene‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌late‌ ‌90’s‌ ‌with‌ ‌Garage‌ Gospel House Dance ‌classics.‌ and her massive‌ ‌#1‌ ‌hit‌ ‌“Alright”‌ ‌on‌ ‌95‌ ‌North‌ ‌Records.‌ ‌‌ In 2004, Mijan took a much-needed break from recording and touring to raise a family. In 2007 she joined the internationally acclaimed Agape Church and became a choir member and featured soloist. In 2011 Mijan went on to form the non-profit charity Music &amp; Arts Corp. (IMAC) which has helped raise money domestically and internationally for a variety of worthy causes. Most recently she’s shared the stage and worked with Stevie Wonder in Jan 2017 in Hollywood at the 10th Annual Art of Elysium and with Patti Labelle in Hollywood at the Nokia in June 2017, with Rickie Byars. In 2018 Mijan became the Top 100 Artist in Dance House Music. She released a remix with Groove Junkies and William “Reelsoul” of the extraordinaire Rick Byars record"From Within", making it #5 on the Dance Charts. In 2020 Mijan recorded another banger remix Classic of Love &amp; Happiness, written by Al Green and Teenie Hodges. Remixed and produced by extraordinaire Groove Junkies “Evan Landes” and William “Reelsoul”. She continues to perform with great artists, prodigy pianist Paul Anthony Romero, Rickie Byars, and Agape International Spiritual Center. Mijan is known for her classic "Alright", which is played still this day around the world on the top DJ's list and radios.

Dr. Pamela Short Powell is a retired Superintendent. She served as theSuperintendent of Schools for Inglewood Unified School District; InterimSuperintendent and Chief Academic Officer for the Oklahoma City PublicSchools; Assistant Superintendent, Director of Elementary Education, andPrincipal in PUSD. She was the Chief Executive Director of the GreaterCrenshaw Educational Partnership with the Los Angeles Urban League andLAUSD.Dr. Powell was the President of the California Association of AfricanAmerican Superintendents and Administrators and is President of theNational Council on Educating Black Children. She has been on numerousBoards focused education, the arts and community empowerment. She hasbeen an adjunct professor at several local colleges and universities, lecturedthroughout the state and conducted, facilitated and participated in workshopsthroughout the country. She visited schools throughout China including theUniversity of Beijing meeting with university professionals and China’sMinistry of Education on STEMS and the value of an international studentexchange program.She serves as Co-Chair to the PCC President’s African American Committeeand is an Educational Facilitator on Equity and Social Justice with the UC.She is active in her community, advocating for children, youth, and seniors.
