    Come join us for an informative session on common aches and pains in your back, knees, and hips! Our expert will discuss causes, prevention, and treatment options to keep you moving pain-free. This in-person event will be held at 50 SW Albany Ave. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn how to take care of your body better!


    Understanding the mind/body connection and how to intentionally address and minimize pain through yoga (movement). This course is designed for yoga teachers, in-depth or advanced practitioners, as well as PTs, chiropractors, and other support providers that deal with chronic pain or similar conditions.

    Beneficial to all clinicians to better understand how yoga may help augment a treatment plan for their patients and provide understanding of which styles and studios to recommend.


    Yoga Alliance CEC/CEUs: TTP 1hr, TM 1hr, AP 1hr, YPLE 1hr. A 5th hour of CE is available for teachers who complete a worksheet offline following the event.


    By taking a more in-depth look at anatomical structures of the Spine, Knees, and Hips gain greater understanding to move more intentionally (or cue with wider perspective) of sensitive areas of the body. Will include practical application practice as well as hands on education section. Help develop a toolkit on which poses to offer to which types of students and WHEN.


    Expert Bio: Roshonda Thomas is a native of Spartanburg SC. She earned a BA from Wofford College in Spanish Literature and a MA from Grand Canyon University in Criminal Justice Legal Studies. She is a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator through the Army earning a DSAACP-l rating through the national civilian agency -NOVA. Roshonda holds an E-RYT200, a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Professional Certification and is the CEO of the non-profit ‘Destress the Community’ which serves veterans, minorities, and the community to bring stress relief and education to those suffering from trauma, PTS(D).

    She is a Veterans Yoga Project Teacher, an Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, serves as a coach and mentor as well as being developed in an apprenticeship program under Taylor Hunt. She currently works full time in the Army, but spends her spare time writing and teaching yoga. Roshonda is a mom, Soldier, best selling author and avid learner.

    Will there be a lunch break?

    Yes! There will be a break for lunch as well as the ability to move during this session. You can pack a lunch or else there are many walkable convenient options in downtown Stuart including a location right next door!

    What should I bring?

    Anything to sit comfortably such as a mat or towel. Participants will be seated yogi style on the floor. A number of chairs are available for those that need it.
