Program Content:

It seems as though more clients/patients identify as gender expansive (including transgender/trans, gender fluid, nonbinary, etc.). Many mental health clinicians are uncertain how to approach this population. This presentation will be a discussion of gender expansiveness, including treating clients/patients who identify as gender expansive and present with trauma symptoms.

O bjectives:

  • Gain a basic understanding of “gender expansive,” including use of pronouns, and creation of an inclusive therapeutic environment
  • Acquire information regarding diagnosis and treatment of clients/patients who present to therapy with issues related to their gender identity
  • Acquire knowledge of resources regarding writing recommendations for further treatment (e.g.; hormone treatment, surgeries, etc.)

Presenter:
