About this event

  • 2 hours

In this therapeutic art workshop, participants will be guided in creating a personal, portable shrine to honor and remember a lost loved one. We’ll use small boxes or tins to memorialize and honor things we hold dear to us (e.g. a loved one, a pet, our ancestors, a special community member, or a place).

The workshop will provide participants with an arts-based experience that focuses on creating an open and supportive space for us to explore grief and loss free of shame, to honor who/what we've lost, and to experience a sense of belonging, validation, and community support.

All necessary art materials will be provided. However, participants are encouraged to bring meaningful objects to honor their loved one(s), such as: photographs, jewelry, small scraps of clothing, fabric, ribbon, natural objects, or any preferred art materials. No artistic experience necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

The workshop will take place in the Story Chapel.

Event capacity: 12 people
