Join Dr. Barbara Calkins as she educates families about vaping and advises parents on talking with their child about the health risks.

Middle and high school students are experimenting with e-cigarette vaping at alarming rates, which has led the US Surgeon General to declare an “epidemic" level of adolescent use. On Tuesday, December 2nd, Dr. Barbara Calkins, a Children's Hospital-affiliated pediatrician and Elmbrook parent, will educate parents and students on:<ul><li>The most up-to-date information on vaping</li><li>Different vape devices and how they work</li><li>Vaping trends in teens in Wisconsin and the United States</li><li>Health risks and side effects of vaping. </li></ul>Dr. Calkins will equip parents and students with the tools they need to have informed discussions and make educated decisions.________________________________________________________________________________________________Dr. Barbara Calkins is a pediatrician in an outpatient office at Westbrook Pediatrics in Brookfield, which is affiliated with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Calkins currently serves on the Executive Board of Children’s Medical Group at Children’s Hospital. She is also the President of the Alumni Association of Medical College of Wisconsin.Over the past year, Dr. Calkins has participated in both a Children’s Hospital Wisconsin blog, as well as “<a href="https://www.facebook.com/childrenshospitalwi/videos/live-qa-the-danger-of-teens-and-vaping/293070637952610/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Facebook- live</a>” on the topic of vaping to help inform and educate families. She has also had the opportunity to speak twice at TMJ 4-live at noon on vaping and on AM 620 radio “For Your Health .“
