In this workshop, a small group of people will work with a TV writer from The Morning Show to rewrite any novels, memoirs, prose, TV pilots or screenplays. You will learn concrete tools, but you will also journal and meditate to access your true self, which we so often disregard. Through that, we’ll investigate why you are telling your story. What is it actually about? (If you can’t answer that, you can’t expect anybody to care about what you write.) Not only will you find the meaning within your story in this workshop, but you’ll learn how to make sure it’s working on a micro and macro level. You’ll leave with a story you’re confident and happy with. There’s nothing worse than asking yourself: ARE THESE EDITS MAKING MY STORY BETTER OR WORSE?! But in this class you’ll learn tools to not only make sure your draft is working, but that it’s an honest reflection of what you want to say about the world.This event incorporates introspection with concrete writing exercises and lectures. We will connect to our voice as writers and our artistic purpose before we focus on getting to the core of the possible story, character, or thematic problems arising in our work. There are no easy fixes to a script. But there are tools you can use to make sure it sings. And that’s exactly what you’ll learn in this workshop.FAQ:Who is this for? This is suitable for writers of all levels, working on screenplays, TV pilots, novels, or memoir. What if I don’t have a finished draft, just an outline? If you have an outline you haven’t taken to draft yet, this is perfect for you as you can get ahead of any story problems by fixing them in outline form. What if I’m writing a book? Great! I always have students working in prose. If you’re working on a novel or memoir, this is for you. Will I get personalized feedback? Yes. Space is limited to ensure everybody has the opportunity to get personalized feedback — so sign up early. Do I need to share my work? Nope! Up to you!Can I email you afterward? Yes! Part of this workshop includes a FULL MONTH of emailing me follow-up questions, including one read of a revised scene!Why include introspection and meditation?
