Art of Adulting, LLC is a team of event curators that promote the revitalization of art,culture, and social engagement among millennials in Washington, D.C area. We started off as a group of friends with a strong desire to preserve the culture of Washington, D.C., we identified a huge problem with today’s social climate. Due to the increase in technology usage (social media, apps.), individuals lack the social skills to adequately engage each other organically. Our first event featured the artwork of the late Dr. Clayton Lang, Jr. of Bowie State University. Dr. Lang artwork has been showcased in several historical exhibits on the east coast, such as the Smithsonian and National Black Arts Festival. We combined his amazing artwork with an interesting social experiment called “airplane mode”. We challenged all attendees to put their phones on airplane mode, encouraging them to interact with one another. The event was a hit, and we were encouraged to continue hosting these types of events. This was the birth of the brand Art of Adulting.
