About this event

(Words highlighted in blue are links to additional information)

These essentials have been proven to make that unexpected stay in the wilderness survivable. Learn how to use your knowledge instead of “dumb luck.” You don’t ever want to be caught unprepared for whatever the wild may throw at you. Learn how being prepared is made easy each time you set out on a day hike or a backpacking trek.

This hike will be predominately off-trail. The wilderness of Mt. San Jacinto State Park has many unique features that can’t be experienced while on just any trail. In some places the terrain will be steep, rocky, cluttered with shrubs or debris.

This hike will be led by Royce Jones with 13 years of experience as a Wilderness Patroller in the Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness. He will be accompanied by other Wilderness Patrollers as well!

Notice: To establish qualification this class is prerequisite for registration for the upcoming "Mystery" Hike on July 20, which is rated STRENUOUS.
