CURRENT:LA FOODpresents new, temporary public art projects by 15 national and international artists and teams of artists who have taken on the global issue of food to highlight and encourage the discussion of topics such as: eliminating food deserts, supporting urban agriculture, improving food distribution systems, and strengthening food equity.Commissioning art installations, performances, and events in public parks,CURRENT:LA FOODaims to engage visitors in discussions about topics and issues that affect Los Angeles residents as well as the broader global community through the context of art and artmaking.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Temporary is an afternoon in two acts, beginning with a performative reading of a newly commissioned monologue —by Jess Arndt—using CURRENT artist Shana Lutker’s dystopian sculpture, Contemporary Museum of Containers (CMTC), as a set for science fiction. The first act is followed by a public conversation between Lutker and CURRENT curatorial advisor Lauren Mackler contextualizing the artist’s CURRENT:LA FOOD project within her larger body of work. For the past seven years, Lutker has been drawing inspiration from the work and life of the Surrealists, producing a textured body of work that includes uncanny objects, writing, and theater. Capacity is limited; RSVP preferred, space given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking within the park is accessed off Laurelgrove Ave. Street parking is available. Please consider taking public transit, carpooling, or ridesharing when possible.

All artworks are outside! Please dress appropriately, bring shade or sunscreen, a bottle of water, and comfortable shoes.
