About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Berkshire Children's Chorus and Berkshire Concert Choir invite you to our intergenerational, interactive, and collaborative spring concerts, entitled "The Sounds of Music," to be held on May 17th in Pittsfield and May 18th in Great Barrington.

"The Sounds of Music" takes its inspiration from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, using the beloved musical as a springboard to explore music from around the globe, including Cecilia McDowall’s cantata, Everyday Wonders: The Girl from Aleppo and Johannes Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer.

This concert has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Feigenbaum Foundation and the Local Cultural Councils of Alford/Egremont, Lee, Lenox, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Pittsfield, Richmond, Sheffield, & Stockbridge, as well as Greylock Federal Credit Union.

Admission is free. Donations through Eventbrite or at the door are gladly appreciated, and will be shared between Berkshire Children's Chorus and Berkshire Concert Choir.

Berkshire Children’s Chorus is a non-profit community organization that provides choral music education to young people in grades 3 to 12 from Berkshire County and beyond. The Chorus was founded in 1990 by Nancy Loder and is currently led by Ryan LaBoy. Berkshire Children’s Chorus explores the globe and travels through time by singing music from various cultures and eras. The Chorus uses music to spark new friendships between singers from across the Berkshire region. Weekly rehearsals feature the development of individual self-confidence and teamwork skills, as well as music reading, ear training, and vocal technique.
