According to the 2019 <a href="https://www.mckinsey.com/featured-insights/gender-equality/women-in-the-workplace-2019" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Women in the Workplace</a> report from McKinsey &amp; Co, companies have what they need in order to effectively support diversity and inclusion. Great strides have been made by many industries to reverse the decades of disparity between the genders. But this is a critical moment. We can treat diversity like the business imperative it is, or we can treat it as an optional initiative. We can build on the progress we’ve made, or we can lose momentum. During The Shift, we explore topics around achieving gender parity in the workplace and highlight intergenerational stories of female leadership. The program features an opening keynote, a panel discussion, inspirational storytelling sessions and a closing presentation. The evening also includes networking, live music, drinks and appetizers while they last.In this Shift session, we take on the topic of work/life balance. Contrary to common thought, women are staying in the workforce and are not leaving their companies at higher rates than men. According to the Women in the Workplace report, “The vast majority of women and men who plan to leave their company also intend to stay in the workforce—and less than 2 percent of employees are planning to leave to focus on family.” But what does that leave for life outside of work? How do companies support employees as their lives and priorities shift over time?Doors will not open until 6pm.
