Formed in 1971, the band built its reputation by balancing traditional bluegrass with a broader songbook, bringing in material from outside the genre and treating it with the same care and precision as the standards. The current lineup, Lou Reid (guitar, mandolin), Ronnie Simpkins (bass), Ron Stewart (banjo, fiddle), Fred Travers (dobro), and Clay Hess (guitar), continues that tradition.
