Join us for 'The Secret to Persuading Republicans' from Smart Politics and political psychiatrist, Karin Tamerius.

This webinar is for blue voters who are eager to leverage the power of persuasive communication in their conversations with Republicans, including Trump voters.

Whether you're a seasoned activist or new to politics, this session is tailored to equip you with the fundamental skills necessary for initiating and navigating conversations that change hearts and minds.

In this introductory session, we will explore the core principles of Smart Politics—a form of political advocacy that intertwines psychological insight with political acumen.

First, you'll learn about the Persuasion Paradox and why arguing with reason and evidence doesn't change minds.

Next, you'll discover the surprising secret to persuading Republicans, even MAGA voters.

Finally, you will be given two tools to transform your political conversations:

  • The Trust Pyramid
  • The Persuasion Conversation Cycle

BONUS: At the end of the webinar, you'll have an opportunity to practice your new skills with the AI Angry Uncle Bot powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT-4.

About the instructor

Dr. Karin Tamerius is a political psychiatrist and the founder of Smart Politics, a nonprofit that is saving democracy one conversation at a time by teaching Democrats how to persuade Republicans.

Since the 2016 election, Dr. Tamerius has worked full time bringing clinical communication skills into the political realm, teaching regular voters and activists how to depolarize conflicts and share their message in a way others can hear. In addition to teaching public workshops, she has trained activists for progressive political organizations such as Indivisible, MoveOn, and Women's March.

Dr. Tamerius has pioneered the use of chat bots for teaching political dialogue skills, publishing two interactive pieces for the New York Times that taught Democrats and Republicans how to discuss politics with each other without destroying the 2018 and 2019 holidays using an “Angry Uncle Bot”. Recently, Dr. Tamerius created a "smarter" version of the Angry Uncle Bot powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 that can talk about any political issue.

Her dialogue work has been featured in media outlets across the political spectrum, including NPR, The Guardian, Time, Scientific American, Fox and Friends, Business Insider, and Mother Jones.
