Mirabai: Mirabai Kukathas: is a storyteller. A playwright, guitarist, and (maybe most importantly) a singer/songwriter, she loves nothing more than telling an absurd story with an honest emotional core. The songs of this genre-blending “floral folk goddess” are characterized by vulnerable lyrics, walls of harmony, collaboration with friends, and a refreshing blend of irony and sincerity. Mirabai was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, although she also grew up in her mother’s native Malaysia.

Organized by

We envision a world where each person feels connected to and explores each layer of their heritage. A place where communities gather regularly to celebrate the heritage of all members therein.

At The Rhapsody Project, we believe that:

. . . Everyone is a culture and tradition bearer, even if they are not conscious of their role.

. . . Music is about fun, expression, and community, not being the best in the room.

. . . American music contains untapped power to confront systems of oppression.

. . . Playing good music requires being a great listener, and listening is a skill we can all develop more consciously.

. . . There are brilliant people in each of our communities that have much to teach. Everyone gains when we gather and learn from these tradition bearers.

. . . Your economic worth does not reflect your personal worth.

. . . The arts are an essential service.
