About this event

Join Zach Martinucci, founder of Rebel Bread, for a guided baking experience from starter to finish. With the help of some “cooking show magic,” you’ll get to see the entire sourdough-making process in this hands-on, two-hour workshop.

This course is designed for new home bakers looking to learn the art and science of sourdough in their home kitchen, around their schedules.

Want a preview of the lessons and instructor? Check out the online version of this course here.

What to Expect

  • Class demonstration of mixing bread dough
  • Hands-on practice shaping and scoring loaves, and feeding your sourdough starter
  • A detailed recipe packet, sourdough starter culture, a loaf of sourdough, and dough in a proofing basket to take home (ready to bake in your home oven)
  • Lots of time to ask baking questions
  • Significant discount to our recorded online course to continue your learning on your own schedule, with additional lessons
  • Fresh milled flours available for purchase

What to Prepare

  • Recommended: reusable grocery bag for all of the things you’ll be taking home. Otherwise you just need yourself – We’ll have an apron and all course materials for you!
  • Soft drinks and snacks are provided. Feel free to bring other snacks as needed.
  • This style of bread is best baked at home in an enclosed cast iron combo cooker. We recommend you pick one up before class so you’re ready to bake when you get home. View a full list of our recommended baking equipment here.

Meet Your Instructor

Zach Martinucci loves telling stories about food, over food and even through food. He studied Culinary Anthropology at UCLA, and Professional Bread and Viennoiserie at the San Francisco Baking Institute. In 2018, he opened Rebel Bread, a community-focused bakery and bread school in Denver. Zach spends his time climbing, going out for coffee, and making everything into gnocchi.

Testimonials

Rebel's sourdough class was so much more valuable than I could have expected. I went from literally not even knowing how to keep a starter to being able to make bread completely by myself...and it was delicious!

-Lacy

This class was a blast!  Zach was a great instructor- he demystified sourdough with his thorough, relatable instruction. Now I have a great starter and the confidence to bake great bread.

-Frank

This is the best investment that I have ever made on a cooking class. Any fear that one may have in making sourdough bread will be alleviated. This class breaks down the process step by step. By the end of the class you will have the confidence to prepare high quality sourdough bread. You will dazzle your friends and family. The instructor is beyond amazing.
