Description

The Real Deal on Synthetic Drugs (Full Day Symposium)

This symposium on synthetic drugs will bring behavioral health, medical, legislative, criminal justice, social services, and business leaders together to examine the landscape of synthetic drugs in the District of Columbia. Subject matter experts will describe the innovative approaches being taken both nationally and locally to address this issue; report on the progress that has been made locally since last year's symposium; and continue the dialogue on local response strategies.

We look forward to an informative and interactive forum where we can continue moving forward toward a comprehensive and coordinated approach that balances the public health and public safety concerns related to synthetic drug use in the District of Columbia.

This symposium is being presented by the Synthetic Drugs Workgroup, which was formed under the auspices of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council's Substance Abuse Treatment and Mental Health Services Integration Taskforce.

Registration for the full-day symposium will begin at 8:15am. The symposium will begin at 9:00am.

Please RSVP by July 10, 2014.

Protecting Your Business: Synthetic Drug Regulations and Your Bottom Line (Business Compliance Workshop)

Business owners are invited and encouraged to attend the full day-long symposium. If you are not able to participate for the full day, we recommend you attend the mid-morning breakout session about the new Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) synthetic drug regulations and the enforcement efforts.

During the session, the DCRA enforcement team will describe the new regulations based on synthetic drug labeling and preview the penalties associated with enforcement. Businesses in violation of the DCRA regulations may incur a fine or have their license(s) suspended or revoked and the business licensee prohibited from obtaining a new license for two (2) years.

Onsite language assistant services will be provided upon request to members of the business community and public who RSVP to the breakout session by July 10.

Registration for the workshop only will begin at 10:30am. The workshop will begin at 10:55am.
