Kara Juszczak, LCSWR, co-owner of Tree of Hope Counseling will facilitate this session.
Kara is a licensed clinical social worker, and a seasoned supervisor and trainer. With experience in schema therapy, she has explored the language clients use and the influence it has on their emotions and behaviors, and how it has perpetuated trauma responses. Also, in her own consultation experience, she has learned how language awareness by the therapist is a critical tool for building skills and resilience with clients.
Language is a powerful force that helps shape our sense of self and others. We learn language as part of a cognitive process, and it takes on an emotional meaning as we develop. By paying attention to the language of our clients, and use of our own language as a therapist, we can transform associations and emotional attachments, and expand our therapy interventions to a new level.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will increase attunement skills related to language.
- Participants will increase awareness of their own language patterns and meaning.
- Participants will increase understanding of how intentional use of language can enhance other interventions.
Tree of Hope Counseling, LCSW, PLLC, is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0322.
