The Odets Project

Founded in 1945 by Viennese actor/director Herbert Berghof, HB Studio is one of New York’s original acting studios. As a nonprofit organization, we support vigorous, lifelong practice in the theatre arts, grounded in practical training. We cultivate an environment where artists take risks, refine their craft, and grow through dedication and discovery. Open to all with a serious interest in theatre and film, HB fosters a vibrant community of actors, playwrights, and directors committed to meaningful artistic work.

Acting Out and HB Studio present The Odets Project, a powerful production showcasing scenes from Clifford Odets’ iconic works and bringing these explosive stories alive, arranged and directed by Richard Hoehler.Featuring Ramón Acevedo, Luis Diaz, Angel Fabian, Francesca Ferrara, Price Gerritsen, Christian Gonzalez, Shi Greene, Meshach Hewitt, Taja Hewitt, Justo Hierro, Wilson Laboriel, Anisa Montalvo, and Angel Santana.<a href="https://www.richardhoehler.com/acting-out" title="https://www.richardhoehler.com/acting-out" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Acting Out</a> offers professional training and performance opportunities for formerly incarcerated men and women who experienced the transformative value of theatre while in prison. In AO workshops and productions, they continue to access forgotten traits, mine raw talent, and build self-esteem. Exposure to the rigors and rewards of a master arts environment empowers participants, helping with reintegration to society, and providing a safe space where they may express themselves openly and honestly.
