<h4>Where did Harriet Beecher Stowe go once she left Cincinnati?</h4><h4>The answer is Brunswick, Maine, where her husband Calvin Stowe was hired for a 2-year professorship in Religion at Bowdoin College. While in Maine, Stowe raised her 6 children, started a school, hosted freedom seeker John Andrew Jackson, and wrote the world-changing anti-slavery novel <em><em>Uncle Tom’s Cabin</em></em>.</h4><h4>Learn about Stowe’s short sojourn in Brunswick Maine, which had a huge impact world-wide. Stowe lecturer Cathi Belcher will guide you through a two year adventure that started in Cincinnati and ended in Brunswick, Maine.</h4>

<p><strong><strong>About the speaker:</strong></strong> Cathi Belcher has been the Guide and Educator for Bowdoin College at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House in Brunswick ME since 2016. She conducts Teas With Harriet, a Historical Stowe Walking tour, a Social Justice Book Group and a Women's Writing Circle. She also lectures around Maine and New England on Stowe, her literature and her remarkable family.</p>
