Event Details

The presentation will focus on the major changes to the 1983 Construction Lien Act, how the revised Act operates, the timing of enforcement of specific clauses and sections of the revised Act and changes that will have to be made throughout the construction industry and engineering profession in order to comply.

About the Speakers:

About Leonard Finegold

Leonard FinegoldLeonard Finegold is Counsel at Goldman Sloan Nash and Haber LLP. He has been practicing exclusively in the area of construction law for more than 35 years, representing the interests of owners, mortgagees, developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, architects and engineers. His areas of expertise include construction liens, contract development and negotiation, breach of trust claims, delay claims, occupational health and safety issues, mediation, arbitration and litigation. A former Director of Legal & Labour Relations for Ellis-Don Construction Ltd. and Executive Legal Counsel to a large mining redevelopment company, Leonard brings unique and particularly valuable insights to construction-related matters and often acts as a sounding board to senior construction executives. Leonard is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and regularly speaks to various organizations on topics important to the construction industry.

In 2019, Leonard was listed in the 14th Edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading lawyer in Construction Law.



About Christine Kellowan

Christine KellowanChristine Kellowan is an associate lawyer at Goldman Sloan Nash and Haber LLP. Christine practices construction law, including construction lien, construction disputes and Tarion warranty matters. Christine has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario.

Christine teaches Principles of Construction Law at George Brown College. Christine completed the Osgoode Certificate in Construction Law in 2014.
