Join New York Times bestselling author Bakari Sellers and Levine Museum of the New South for a conversation and signing for his new work The Moment: Thoughts on the Race Reckoning That Wasn't and How We Can All Move Forward Now.

“Drawing on memoir and interviews, Sellers explains the myriad ways that structural racism and “whitelash”, such as race-motivated shootings, harm Black Americans today.”—The New York Times.

In his new book, Sellers examines the modern political landscape and explores the forces at work to undermine civil rights gains over the past fifty years and offers solutions for a better tomorrow.

In his own words, Sellers wrote this book because “we have to find ways in which we can empower the African American community so that we can be a part of creating a democracy in its truest form and creating a world where my children not only can live in a better America for African Americans and other disfranchised people but also will be equipped to help develop a world where human existence is equitable—forever.”

Join us for a one-night-only event as Bakari Sellers explores inequities in healthcare, education, early childhood education, and policing and examines national politics and policies that deeply impact the lives of millions of African Americans in communities nationwide.

A book signing will begin immediately following the conversation.

Copies of The Moment will be available to purchase onsite at the event or with your ticket in advance.
