The Matthew 25 Gathering: Justice And Mercy Contending For Shalom
Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 3:00 PM - Friday, September 29, 2017 at 12:00 PM (MST)
Participants from the Anglican Church in North America will gather to consider our unique witness to the kingdom of God in our North American context. We will dream together, pray together, learn together, and discern together how the Lord is leading Anglicans to contend for shalom amidst the brokenness’ of our communities.
We will gather in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Franciscan Renewal Center. We look forward to forming a community of Anglican men and women who are practitioners, organizational leaders, clergy, lay leaders, and others who are engaged in contending for shalom among the vulnerable, marginalized and under-resourced communities.
This event is the next grass-roots step formed out of Archbishop Foley's Matthew 25 Initiative. We would like for you to be a part of this exciting gathering. We want your voice and story and expertise in the room.
We are very excited to have Rev. Dr. Soong-Chan Rah as our keynote speaker this year, joining the voices of Anglican practitioners from field. Please take the time to read more about him at his website www.profrah.com.
See www.anglicanjusticeandmercy.org for more information, and a glimpse of last year's gathering.
Is this event a conference, a retreat, a gathering of friends and fellow laborers on the ground?
All of the above. The retreat setting will also allow us to reflect together on desert spirituality and its implications for the city, for our urban contexts of ministry.
What are some of the topics we will be discussing with Pastor Rah and as a group?
* Anglicanism and the cultural mosaic of the the people of God.
* Is it random that issues of poverty and injustice concentrate among communities of color?
* What is lament, and how can it be a prophetic practice as we seek God's kingdom of justice and mercy?
* As Anglicans, what are our unique contributions and what is our unique call to serve among our vulnerable, marginalized and under-resourced communities with sharp minds, soft heart, and alive spirits?
