Together, we’ll unpack the ways we blend productions, communities, and campaigns to create art that sparks a lasting change. <blockquote>“I love that it went into the ethical considerations of working with communities including accessibility and providing opportunities for people to engage in different ways as this is so important.” - Participation Feedback</blockquote><blockquote>“I liked that it was interactive and that it encouraged me to reflect on my own project…it was very relevant to my work and I felt it was a safe space to share my thoughts..”- Participantion Feedback</blockquote>Led by Helen Monks of LUNG's Co-Artistic Directors, this session will explore the techniques and ethical considerations behind verbatim theatre.<ul><li>How do you bring real-life stories to the stage?</li><li>What responsibilities come with amplifying people’s voices?</li><li>How do you navigate the wellbeing of your creative team, interviewees, and yourself?</li></ul>The LUNG Method will provide a platform for discussion, offering practical tools for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of verbatim practice. Whether you’re a student, emerging writer, or seasoned artist, this workshop will provide valuable insight into turning real people’s words into compelling theatre. We plan to offer this as a one off series, creating a regular opportunity for creative exchange and support. PAYMENTThe full cost of this online course is £20.If you are funded by an organisation or a grant, or if you can comfortably afford the full amount, we ask that you pay the full fee. ABOUT HELEN MONKS Helen became the Co-Director of LUNG at its inception in 2014 and has led the organisation with Matt Woodhead ever since. Helen’s acting credits include C4’s Raised by Wolves &amp; Maxxx, BBC2’s Upstart Crow, Election Spy &amp; Inside No. 9, 21st Century Fox Genius. Helen co-writes many of LUNG’s productions. She is represented by Mark Starling at Curtis Brown for writing and Georgie Davies at Conway Van Gelder Grant for acting.
