This event is a panel discussion with smart growth and private property rights advocates, moderated by Mary Ann Schicketanz.

A panel of experts will discuss the topic of private vs. public lands, and what is appropriate growth considering population pressures and the finite natural resources of our community. PANELISTS Michael DeLapa, LandWatch Monterey County: Michael serves as executive director of LandWatch Monterey County, which he founded with Rebecca Shaw and Bradley Zeve in 1997 to promote land conservation, housing equity, and sustainable, climate-friendly growth. Michael has held the position of executive director since 2016. Previously, from 1997 to 2009 he served on the LandWatch Board of Directors.Jeannette Tuitele-Lewis, Big Sur Land Trust: Jeannette became BSLT&#x27;s President and CEO in October of 2014. Prior to coming to BSLT, she worked for Sierra Foothill Conservancy for five years as executive director, following three years as development and outreach director. During her tenure, the organization doubled its operations capacity, reached a milestone of 25,000 acres of conserved lands, and became Land Trust Alliance accredited.Matthew Sundt, Land Use Planner: Matthew has provided land planning and environmental consulting services for 24 years. He has prepared over 250 environmental documents and has managed a variety of land development projects throughout California. His professional strengths include a broad knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (CEQA and NEPA), local regulations pertinent to land development and project entitlements, and project management. He has demonstrated his ability to successfully facilitate projects in the most restrictive and complicated regulatory environments.Anthony Lombardo, Central Coast Real Estate and Litigation Attorney: Since he began his practice 40 years ago, Tony has represented clients in a wide variety of real estate issues throughout Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Tony has extensive experience practicing before the California Coastal Commission and has a reputation as a fierce and successful advocate for his clients. Prior to starting his own law firm in 1994, Tony was a partner in the firm of Noland, Hamerly, Etienne &amp; Hoss and has concentrated his practice in the areas of land use permitting, real estate acquisition and sale, as well as litigation related to real estate.
