Our home and office spaces are the outward manifestations of our sense of self-worth. Wouldn't you love to live and work in the peace and order you've dreamed of? This class will explore Marie Kondo's book, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up." Using small group discussion and meditation, this class will provide the social support we all need to complete this daunting task.

Marie Kondo endows all of her things, those to be kept and cherished, and those to be gratefully released, with feelings and motives. Before she discards any object to the thrift store or the garbage bin she thanks it for its service and blesses it for its next “life." This class will utilize her techniques to let go of emotional ties, and of the feelings of guilt and attachment that underlie clinging to stuff. Marie says we accumulate more stuff than is good for us for two reasons: clinging to the past and fearing the future. The stuff you own, however organized, labeled and stored away, creates an energetic burden on you, the owner. As clutter diminishes and order emerges in the environment, we begin to feel better about ourselves and our prospects, and our brain becomes less muddled and confused.

The class will meet on 5/9, 5/16, 5/23 and 5/30.

Ellen Bierhorst has over 50 years of experience practicing Holistic Psychosocial/Spiritual Wellness as a psychotherapist, Alexander Technique teacher, community activist and recovering slob. Ellen has led various holistic healing groups here, in Ireland and in Israel. She is a spicy old lady and believes in sparking joy. Ellen formed a Kondo group last Fall and after ten bi-weekly meetings, this pilot group has amassed a powerful toolkit you can benefit from now.
