"The Last Bumblebee" takes you on an incredible adventure, diving deep into the world of these incredible pollinators and the challenges they face.

Through stunning cinematography and captivating interviews, "The Last Bumblebee" sheds light on the four major threats bumblebees face worldwide: food scarcity, habitat loss, pesticides, and disease. It's a wake-up call to the vital role bumblebees play in our ecosystems and the urgent need for conservation efforts.

PANELISTS:

JOHN RHODES: Outreach Director, Northern Virginia Beekeepers Association, John is active in Fairfax County and Northern Virginia, teaching groups and individuals the 101 on beekeeping.

MATT BRIGHT: Executive Director, Earth Sangha, Matt has been dedicated to native plant conservation since 2011. Growing up as the son of co-founders Lisa and Chris Bright, he has a deep-rooted connection to the organization. Throughout the years, Matt has collaborated closely with ecologists, botanists, and park managers in the Northern Virginia region, contributing to various plant conservation and ecological restoration projects. He even gained valuable experience interning at Huntley Meadows Park. Matt's passion for nature extends beyond his work at Earth Sangha. He frequently shares his knowledge as a teacher for the Arlington Regional Master Naturalist chapter and actively participates in the steering committee for the National Capitol Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management.

DUANE HOVORKA: Senior Ag Policy Specialist, National Wildlife Foundation, Duane has over 40 years of public policy experience at the federal and state level, working at the intersection of agriculture, water, and wildlife. A native Nebraskan, Duane helps represent National Wildlife Federation with Congress and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, working to help leaders understand the important interactions between agriculture, wildlife, our soils, and our climate.

JO DOUMBIA: Fairfax Master Naturalist, Jo worked for over 30 years with the World Bank on sustainability. She is also a long term Fairfax Master Naturalist and Audubon at Home Ambassador, in addition of being a climate solutions crusader and Board Member of several local environmental organizations.
