About this event

  • 2 hours

Strength can be a tricky concept - especially for women. Join movement and mindset facilitators, Kay Cowling and Alison Austin, in this 2 hour workshop where they’ll be exploring some common myths around what it means to be physically and mentally strong (& why these two aspects are interlinked).

Whatever age or life stage you’re at, there are certain cornerstones for strength & resilience that are fundamental components to staying healthy and aging well. Amongst these are an integrated, whole-body approach to movement; a healthy nervous system; interoceptive awareness; as well as the use of various mindful techniques to support our mental fortitude.

In this session, we’ll explore strength from the ground up and work with a variety of tools and techniques that encompass movement, sensing, breathwork, and somatic practices designed to balance, ground and reconnect you to your sense of self.

This is a participatory session so please come wearing warm, comfortable clothing you can move in. Suitable for those new to movement.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Kay Cowling teaches a mixture of Pilates, movement and re-education of breathing patterns, aimed at improving overall health and well-being. Having taught for over 30 years, she continues to seek out a way of thinking that looks holistically at the human body and stays open to new research that will inform her as an educator. Most recently, Kay has studied with master breathwork facilitator James Nestor & his breathing crew of international pulmonauts, which has enabled her to delve deeper into the understanding of the biochemistry of the body.

Alison Austin is an accredited executive coach, specialising in mindful, resilient leadership for individuals & high performance for teams. She currently works with a wide range of individuals and organisations, helping them to define strategies around burnout prevention and develop practices that help build and maintain resilience. She is a qualified yoga and meditation teacher, with a focus on somatic movement practices and mindfulness for stress reduction. With a life-long love of movement, she has a personal movement practice (incorporating a number of different movement modalities) spanning 30+ years.
