About this event
The Joy in Our Movement is a workshop series that centers joy and community-building using dance, writing, and discussion. Join us over four sessions where we’ll utilize dance as a practice of physical and socioemotional wellness, build connection through movement and discussion, set personal and collective goals, and co-create thematic movement from our writings and conversation – all while centering the theme of joy.

light breakfast refreshments, waters, journals, and writing utensils will be provided. coffee and tea will be available for purchase at the d'griot cafe! please bring a yoga mat, tapestry, or blanket to stretch on (optional). No prior dance experience necessary. masks will be provided at the door (optional).

Caitlin Green (she/they) is a Philadelphia-based freelance dance artist with a Master's degree in Dance/Movement Therapy from Drexel University (2019). Their work concentrates on the body’s role in wellness and catharsis. Caitlin has curated and facilitated workshop series and collaborative projects such as Dancing to Transgress: Lessons from bell hooks; Embodied Practices in the Classroom, Our Embodied Impulses, and a first iteration of The Joy in Our Movement in 2021. Caitlin is a trauma-informed teaching artist and choreographer with The Village of Arts and Humanities and Independence Charter School. She enjoys working collaboratively with youth, as well as choreographing works that start conversation and inspire self-reflection. More on Caitlin’s work can be found at cgdancecat.com.
