The Heart of Midlothian Innovation Centre Launch

Since 1874, Heart of Midlothian FC has built a strong reputation as a family friendly club with a proud record of community involvement. We have a desire for Hearts to continue to build on its reputation as a positive social force in the community by working in partnership with many different local groups, charities, corporate partners and initiatives.

Heart of Midlothian Football Club

Heart of Midlothian has announced the launch of a pioneering new Innovation Centre at the recently redeveloped Tynecastle Park.
The Innovation Centre, which is sponsored by Baillie Gifford and powered by Dell, aims to promote community cohesion by helping people and businesses develop important skills. It is hoped that it will play an important role in helping to regenerate the local area.
The launch follows on from a series of successful Digital Education programmes that have attracted several hundred school children between the ages of eight and sixteen over the past six months. Working in partnership with learning providers, schools and businesses, programmes use the magnet of football and the unique position of HMFC in the community to attract and motivate young people of all ages to acquire vital skills for Scotland’s burgeoning digital economy.
Digital Skills clubs, give young people the opportunity to explore technology in a fun, creative and social environment. Dell has provided all the equipment required for the programmes, thus removing any financial barriers to entry for young people in one of Edinburgh’s most economically challenged communities.
The official launch of the Innovation Centre on Wednesday 29th May will also see the opening of a new Business Support facility. Designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs as well as established companies, the programmes on offer will provide advice and encouragement for people looking to set up their own enterprises as well as those struggling to sustain existing businesses.
In addition to providing advice and guidance, the Centre will provide vital support for participants to get on the first rung of the ladder in setting up a new business and build new contacts. Equally, it will provide pathways into established business support networks and potential funders.
The Innovation Centre will host a series of introductory business seminars, delivered by Brodies LLP, covering key areas that can make the difference between success and failure when starting and running businesses. Attendees will receive support and advice on topics such as becoming self-employed, taking on new employees, leasing premises and managing cash flow.
The launch event at Tynecastle Park will see Hearts CEO and Chairman, Ann Budge, recount her journey from Pilton-born single mother to becoming Scotland’s Entrepreneur of the Year and one of the most respected figures in the Scottish business community. Ann will also provide a fascinating insight into the business of football.
The event will also introduce the Innovation Centre’s key sponsors Baillie Gifford and Dell, as well as delivery partners Brodies LLP and Robotical.
