About this event

Every ecosystem has evolved to exist in an environment of half day and half night. Turning night into day with artificial outdoor lighting affects the predator-prey relationships of nocturnal wildlife, takes a negative toll on human health and increases CO2 emitted in energy production each year. The real cost impacts our wallets, our health and the environment. Adam Kreuzer, delegate with the International Dark Skies Association, discusses the negative effects of outdoor light pollution and offers alternatives that are safer, more attractive and less wasteful. To effectively restore biodiversity and critical ecosystems in our own backyards, we must reconsider the artificial light we use on our own property, bring awareness to this growing issue, and inspire others to take necessary steps to protect our disappearing natural night sky.
