The Hive: Intro to Silverpoint Drawing with Nicole Horlor

In this 2hr mini intro to silverpoint we will explore drawing with fine silverpoint, copper, brass, gold, and platinum. Silverpoint was used as early as the 12th century for both record keeping and the creation of art. In this medium, a line is produced by pressing a metal stylus (most often fine silver, but also gold, copper, brass and lead) to a specially prepared surface.

Nicole will guide you through an explorative intro on prepared white and black backgrounds, using lines, dashes, dots, crosshatching, squiggles, and shading, along with an added touch of colour. Using mandala as an experiential, expressive, creative way to understand silverpoint with leaf and feather an inspirational direction to explore this fascinating medium.
