About this event

Far too many men are just not talking about the hard stuff - and for good reason. But it comes with a cost. We are doing what we can to change that.

In this class, we work with a maximum of five honest, no bullshit men who have something to say and want some help in saying it (no experience needed), so they can

  • Finally talk about and explore it honestly without dealing with all the b.s.
  • Craft it into a compelling, relatable and memorable personal story (aka core story)
  • Tell it so that people put their phones down, pay attention and walk away changed
  • Help other men feel a little less shitty and a little less alone

Men like

  • Bob in Vegas - sister's suicide
  • Andrew in Easthampton- heart attack
  • Scott in Bangkok - addiction and incarceration
  • Robert in Cleveland - being a father
  • Kory in Iowa City - beng black in America
  • Dan in Chicago - gender and sexuality
  • Kurt in Newburyport - brother's death
  • Harold in Boston - prostate cancer
  • Richard in Vegas - body image
  • Adi in Jersey City - bullying

What makes this - and us - different ✅

We actually know what we are doing

I'm not here to throw shade on others, but there's a whole lot of people that claim to know this stuff - they don't - especially hard stories.

We let you talk without dealing with all the bullshit

We don't police your language, play into cancel culture, question the things you've gone through or kill important conversations (more on this in meeting one)

We like the hardest of the hard stuff

Literally anything is game - it's your story - though we do ask that you think about if what you want to talk about and craft into a story is still an open wound.

We create actual community

This intensive is not a one-off kind of thing, though of course if all you want is this class, that's cool.

We really give a shit

Not much to say here other than we walk the talk - and we care.

Frequently asked questions

What's your teaching style?

With a blend of inquiry and feedback, hands-on exercises and on the spot coaching, we will work (and rework) one hard story for two weeks. We are open, honest and always aim to be kind. We focus on cultivating spaces where men can really talk and learn the skills to craft and tell their stories.

Why does this hard story stuff matter?

Fair question but if you're not sure, this probably isn't for you.

Can I miss a meeting?

You can miss one meeting, but beyond that we ask you drop this intensive and get credit for one in the future.

What about refunds?

Yes, if you aren't satisfied by the end of the first class, we will issue a full refund (minus modest Eventbrite fees).

What else do we need to know?

We have one scholarship available. Please reach out to learn more. We donate 5% of our earnings to one of a handful of vetted non-profits which have similarly aligned missions.

Can't I do this on my own?

Absolutely, though it's hard. Really hard. If you want some help from us, check out this class.
