The Halfling - 5K+

The second-annual Halfling 5K will be a fun, all-ages event, put on by Whittenberg Country School, on Saturday, April 11th, 2026.

The second-annual Halfling 5K will be a fun, all-ages event, put on by Whittenberg Country School, on Saturday, April 11th, 2026. Gates open at 9 am, and the run kicks off at 10. There is an optional "elevenses" luncheon option.

The Halfling will start with a 5K (as well as a loop-at-the-school option), for the first few years, but will eventually include a 10K and a half-marathon.

The Halfling 5K will serve as a fundraiser for the Whittenberg Schoolhouse Project.

Ticket prices:

Before March 11th (more than a month in advance):
$10 youth (4-14) & $20 adult.

From March 11th to April 10th (less than a month in advance):
$12.50 youth (4-14) & $25 adult.

April 11th (the day of the event, which can be purchased at the event):
$15 youth (4-14) & $30 adult.

There will also be the quarter-mile loop-at-the-school option, which will cost just $5 in advance (or $10 at the event). Each lap is a quarter-mile, so if one wants to run or walk the whole 5K, that would be just over a dozen laps, but one would be able to do fewer (or more), as one wanted. This option is intended for those who may not be comfortable walking/running on the road.

There is also the option, both for runners & non-runners, to get a $10 "Elevenses" early luncheon of either a hamburger or hotdog, along with chips & a drink. Lunch tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event itself (but purchasing in advance helps to make sure there is plenty of food).

Finally, there will be a Family Ticket Package and a Family Lunch Package, which is good for the parents and all of their minor children in an immediate family, for just $60 & $40, respectively. These packages are available until March 11th, and they are the best deal for larger families.
